Topography and Growing Environment
Basilicata has many inland mountainous areas. The northern Vulture zone has volcanic origins, but the region also includes other growing areas like Val d’Agri and around Matera. You cannot generalize the geology of Vulture to all of Basilicata.

Varieties and Appellation Comparison
The names and regulations of Aglianico del Vulture DOC and Aglianico del Vulture Superiore DOCG must be distinguished. Compared with Taurasi in Campania, these represent different regions for the same grape variety. Even with the same grape, the areas and regulations are not identical.
Why is it important to check whether 'Superiore' is indicated on the label of Aglianico del Vulture?
