01 / GEOGRAPHY
Topography and Growing Environment
There are different growing conditions along the coast of Naples compared to inland Irpinia. Placing Taurasi, Avellino, and Tufo on a map reveals that major red and white wine regions are also located inland. Altitude and distance from the sea are factors to consider in southern climates.

02 / HISTORY
Historical and regional background
Campania has a long history of wine culture. However, one cannot claim that the ancient names refer to the same grape varieties as today without supporting evidence. Modern production areas and grape criteria are determined both by history and contemporary appellation regulations.

Varieties and Appellation Comparison
Taurasi's Aglianico, Fiano di Avellino's Fiano, and Greco di Tufo's Greco are examples of pairing grapes with their respective terroirs. Falanghina is another distinct white variety. Even among southern wines, there are red and white, variety and location differences.
