FIELD NOTE 01
Reading ZOI as Geographic Names
zaštićena oznaka izvornosti, abbreviated as ZOI, corresponds to Protected Designation of Origin. Names like Dingač have specific areas, grape variety, cultivation, and winemaking requirements. Do not place the four broad regional divisions and the individual appellations on the same level; it is important to proceed from the larger geographical area down to the registered appellations.
FIELD NOTE 02
KZP terms
Traditional terms protected by the EU include Kvalitetno vino KZP and Vrhunsko vino KZP. These are quality indications accompanied by origin control—read them together with the specific name. Do not assume that similar terms in neighboring countries have the same varietal requirements or numerical standards.
FIELD NOTE 03
Maturation standards differ by appellation
The published regulations for Dingač require additional labeling conditions for Klasiko and Riserva. These are not applicable as a universal system of aging categories across all of Croatia. Start by checking the definition of these terms, then confirm the time spent in barrel and bottle for individual wines, so you can separate the legal minimum requirements from each producer's actual practice.
Not usable. Read as a condition concerning additional indications for specific appellations.
