Masseto: Massetino plot-by-plot vinification and blending
This is a producer in Bolgheri on the coast of Tuscany. Set among blue clay hills overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, they make Masseto and Massetino. The 2022 Massetino is a Merlot-based red blend with Cabernet Franc.
Write the raw materials for the 2022 Massetino, and the sequence from vinification by parcel to blending and bottling.

Toscana IGT for the two varieties
Massetino 2022 is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, labeled as Toscana IGT. Although produced by a winery in Bolgheri, you cannot call this wine Bolgheri DOC based solely on its location. Confirm both the site of the vineyard and the label designation.
Fermented by individual plot
In 2022, each plot is vinified separately and naturally fermented in concrete vats. Malolactic fermentation is then carried out in barriques, with a new oak ratio of 50%. Even for the same wine, the documents show that vessels change as the process progresses.
Combined after aging
After the initial 12 months of maturation, the blend is made, then the wine is given an additional rest of about 3 months in concrete tanks before bottling. The proportion of 90 to 10 in the finished wine does not, by itself, tell us when the base wines were blended. It is necessary to read both the composition and the sequence of steps together.
