FIELD NOTE 01

Reserva Criteria

According to the current INV guidelines, in addition to specified varieties and other source requirements, at least 135kg of grapes must be used per 100L of wine. The minimum aging period is 12 months for red, and 6 months for white and rosé. The period is counted from the point at which the wine becomes microbiologically stable.

FIELD NOTE 02

Conditions for Gran Reserva

At least 140 kg of raw material is required per 100 L. Minimum ageing is 18 months for red, 12 months for white and rosé. Older official PDFs mention 24 months for red, but here we use the 18 months from Resolución 26/2021 and the current guidance. When blending vintages, each component wine must meet the minimum period.

FIELD NOTE 03

It does not necessarily refer to time in barrel.

These common conditions do not mean that maturation occurs entirely in new barrels. Barrels types, durations, and bottle aging should be checked individually. Since the usage differs from the same term in neighboring Chile, always remember to note the country name along with label terms.
