Echo's Former Name
The red second wine was renamed from Haut-Bages Averous to Echo de Lynch-Bages in 2008. When comparing old labels with current lists, remember that different names do not always mean wines from completely separate lineages.
The three varieties of Blanc
Blanc de Lynch-Bages has been produced since 1990, using Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle. You cannot infer the raw materials for this white from the estate’s typical red blend.
Aging on lees after fermentation
According to the Blanc vinification process description, about 75% of the juice is fermented in barrels and aged with the lees for roughly 6 months. The percentage of barrel fermentation is a separate detail from the proportion of new barrels or the maturation period. By pairing the process with the numbers, the specific method for white winemaking becomes clearer.

What was Echo’s former name?
Read the old label, considering the renaming in 2008.
Which varieties are used in Blanc?
Three grape varieties are listed specifically for the whites.
What does about 75% mean?
Distinguish between the proportion of fermentation vessels and new vs. old barrels. About 75% refers to the portion of juice fermented in barrels. If it’s new barrel percentage, explain the new/old barrels; if it’s 6 months, explain the time spent on lees. By connecting percentages and months to stage names, you can avoid mixing up the numbers.
