Multiple winemaking sites

In addition to Katsunuma, Kikyogahara Winery was established in 2018 and Mariko Winery in 2019. You cannot determine that all grapes come from Yamanashi simply by the producer name Château Mercian. Distinguish between wines and facilities for each region.

The Mariko vineyard began operation first.

The Mariko vineyard was established in 2003 and the winery in 2019. The vineyard, at about 650 m elevation on clay soil, is planted with Merlot, Chardonnay and others. Do not interpret the facility’s establishment year as the year the first vines were planted there.

Compare left and right sides of the river in Hokushin

Chardonnay in Hokushin is explained by separating the left and right banks of the Chikuma River. The left bank is clay soil at 330–360 meters altitude, and the right bank is gravel soil at 430–600 meters. Read this as a comparison not only of river sides, but also of altitude and soil type.
