A variety created from a cross in 1927
At Iwanohara Vineyard, Zenbei Kawakami bred Bailey by crossing it with Muscat Hamburg. The resulting grape itself is Muscat Bailey A. The name is not a mixture of the parents’ wines.
Conditions for cultivating vineyards in Japan
Iwanohara Vineyard describes disease resistance and productivity as characteristics of the varieties. However, disease resistance does not mean that spraying or crop management is unnecessary. Understanding the region’s rainfall, harvest timing, and grape selection in the vineyard brings you closer to the wine’s raw material.
Reading the blend of Zenbei 2022
Zenbei 2022 is made up of 71% Muscat Bailey A, 23% Black Queen, and 6% Bailey Alicante A. This is the final blend for this red wine. This is separate information from the parent-offspring relationship of the varieties, and it is not a fixed ratio for all Muscat Bailey A wines.
