Red grape varieties of Trentino
Teroldego is an indigenous black grape variety of Trentino. When reading the name Teroldego Rotaliano, separate 'Teroldego' as the grape variety and 'Rotaliano' as the part indicating the land. It is not necessary to memorize the whole name as a new grape variety.
Plains formed from river sediments
The Rotaliana Plain is in the area where the Noce and Adige rivers meet. Mezzacorona describes river deposits and underground gravel. Even though the area is surrounded by mountains, it is inaccurate to treat the vineyards as if they are on steep mountain slopes.
Examples of viticultural selection and sorting.
Mezzacorona presents pre-harvest cluster-tip removal, along with hand picking and selection. This is one producer’s approach to vineyard management. Do not generalize these methods to all producers under the same designation; record terrain and producer practices separately.
