FIELD NOTE 01

Do not abbreviate place names.

Bikavér is not a grape name but a designation for a red blend found in both Eger and Szekszárd. When comparing, always write Egri and Szekszárdi. The place name determines which appellation requirements to reference.

The name “Bull’s Blood” alone tells you neither the blend nor the winemaking method. Read it alongside the regional name to begin understanding the label.

FIELD NOTE 02

Reading the Eger Classifications

The Eger official body explains that the focus is on dry reds with Kékfrankos as the backbone, and defines three tiers: Classicus, Superior, and Grand Superior. Confirm these categories along with the blend composition and area of origin.

Even if you understand the classification, the grape varieties and their proportions in individual wines are not automatically determined. Investigate the actual blend and barrel aging from producer materials, and distinguish between regulatory frameworks and producer choices.

FIELD NOTE 03

Fill in the blanks in the comparison table

Prepare two labels and make four lines: origin, classification, grape variety, and maturation. For a document listing only Egri Bikavér Superior, the grape proportion field cannot yet be filled.

Do not fill unknown fields by guessing: listing necessary technical materials is also a valid exercise answer. Read place names and classifications, choose what additional information to research, and you will be able to handle new labels without relying only on memorized examples.
