FIELD NOTE 01
Valleys that cross state borders
The Calchaquí Valleys extend across Salta, Tucumán, and Catamarca. Beginning with Cafayate in Salta, they expand to Cachi and Molinos. The first step in organizing the northwest is not to treat the name of the valleys as synonymous with Salta Province.
FIELD NOTE 02
Ripening at high altitude
At low latitude under intense sunlight, nights are cold at high altitude. In addition to Torrontés, reds such as Malbec and Cabernet are also important. To explain how pronounced color and fruitiness can coexist with fresh acidity, consider light and temperature as separate factors.
FIELD NOTE 03
Expand the scope of the northwest
Further north in Jujuy is the high-altitude area around Humahuaca, and Catamarca also has regions like Tinogasta. The Calchaquí valleys are not the only wine regions in the Northwest. Rather than focusing just on record altitude, first check which valley the vineyards are in.
No. It spans across Salta, Tucumán, and Catamarca.
